TV

Time to update the world on my TiVo habits.

I’m totally into Sopranos. Haven’t watched a single episode until this new season. I have no desire to see any of the old ones. I hear this season is unlike the others. It’s darker and slower and very character-driven. The coma-sequence when Tony got shot was cool. It’s a little raunchy and bloody, but very engaging.

While we’re on HBO, I’m also into Big Love — show about polygamist Mormon family in Utah. Characters are quirky and sound. I like the inbred Juniper Creek folks. They are crazy.

Best Week Ever, The Office, Simpsons, Family Guy, and Prison Break are still on my list and I look forward to Monday night when TiVo’s full of new stuff. SNL is there too, but I skip through most of the musical guests, all the commercials, and bad sketches. Turns out you can watch the best of SNL in 30 mins — sad for a 90 minute show.

Show I’m most likely to start TiVoing, but won’t: The Dog Whisperer. Caesar is a pet genius. I think he can teach me how to raise kids.

Easter 2006

Beret leaves this morning, ending three solid weeks of family help around the house. First Beret and Homer, then my parents, and then Beret again. They took turns cooking, cleaning, changing diapers and holding Silas. Max and Eli were in town this weekend too. They gave me all day Saturday and worked with me up in the loft project. The storage space is almost finished. We put up 90% of the drywall.

Spent Easter eating delicious champagne brunch at Plums, walking around Balboa Island, and soaking up the perfect weather.

Pics of Easter and the loft.
More Pics from Silas’ 2nd and 3rd weeks.

Baby Work

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Having a baby is hard work. Changing and feeding him every three hours at night — or more often (most of which Bronwen has been doing — but I’ve stayed involved). Limits on what you can do during the day — where you can go and for how long. Doing all the laundry. Taking out the extra trash and stinky bags of diapers. So much work. Tomorrow I go back to real work. Paternity leave has been a huge blessing — two weeks of focus on Bronwen and Silas. I’ve been trying to put work out of my mind and focus on them. Easier said than done. The time has gone by at warp speed. Has it really been two weeks? Or two days? Silas is two weeks old this morning. My email box is a growing mass of chaos. Seems like I’ll never get through it all.
